Most people feel deprived on diets and this has a detrimental effect as they tend to cheat in large quantities, thus failing they diet.
I do not agree with this at all on the HCG 500 calories a diet because it is a very strict, almost regimented diet but the benefits are enormous.
If you are doing a plan whereas you are counting calories constantly then this strategy might benefit you and help with keeping on the diet.
If you read this article about cheating on a diet HERE
It shows that diet is 90% attitude and I agree wholeheartedly on this.
On the HCG diet I have read that people do include other items and they say doesn’t make a difference. Well on all of them nothing can be proved that variations work from Dr Simeons’ protocol as the person wouldn’t know how much would they have lost if they had not cheated.
The following are some of the “cheats” I’ve heard from the HCG dieters.
1) Eat a salad (green leaves) before each main meal and then still have the vegetable of choice.
2) Use coconut oil to fry for flavour meats for casseroles etc
At the moment of writing this I’ve been through the first 30 days of the diet plus 6 weeks of consolidation and 43 extra days of diet. I never cheated during the HCG 500 calories or the three weeks without starch or sugar. I feel happy that I have not cheated and I feel equipped to carry on, at the moment I am on my fist day of the 500 calories I still have 40 days to go 🙂 I am now in finishing the second of 8 weeks of consolidation. I have lost 42lbs and I am maintaining within 1¼ lb so far after a few mishaps due to Christmas and New Year celebrations and especially because I did not eat enough, yes that’s right you have to eat in consolidation!
The only addition I allowed myself was broccoli because I prefer it to cauliflower, I don’t like the smell of cauliflower when cooking. That’s another reason why I tend not to eat cabbage as I simply do not like the smell when cooking.
I cannot be so zealous of my new found virtue, after all, I’ve have dieted successfully but kept the weight off unsuccessfully for years!
Well I have given my opinion regarding “cheating” with regards to the HCG diet.
With regards to other diet plans I think really it is up to the dieter and how strong the wish to lose weight is for the individual person.
Suggestions of healthy snacks: fruit, salads, cottage cheese, I love full fat cheese in consolidation as it doesn’t seem to put weight on as long as I am not loading with carbs. I love avocado slices.
Here is a picture of a healthy snack 😉

Congratulation on your success, that take a great commitment.
I agree with allowing yourself “cheat meals” on any diet but I don’t like the name Cheat meals, treat meals are better. Or a change meal. Cheat is such a negative term about food and one of the contributors to diets not working.

You are correct I should have used another word. I remember when Slimming World in the UK (a competitor of weight watchers) used the word “sin” basically they allowed you “free” food that you did not need to count or weight but then you had between 5 to 15 sins a day. Later they changed it to “syns” as a short version of synergy 🙂 Will be more careful in my choice of words in the future.
