This video is advising what the old ways of counting calories were, 3500 calories equalled a pound loss. I am now convinced that it is the quality, not the quantity, of calories that matter.
Calories: the debate
All calorie-restricting diets advise changing eating habits and quality of food.
I am sure some people will agree with that and that someone following a 1000 calorie diet based on junk foods will still lose weight, yes, the person will but how long will it last on that diet?
Let’s take low fat diets, they reduce calories and also increase the quality of carbohydrates.
Low carb diets increase the quality of carbohydrates consumed but they tend not to count calories and people lose on them!
On the other hand, if you eat 10,000 calories of fat every day you will put weight on!
Calories: my opinion
In my personal opinion quality is better than quantity. Take for instance the HCG diet; well the only thing I weigh is 100g of protein and cups of the vegetables. People might say that the HCG diet is a crash diet, well for the calories consumed you could say that but if you really understand the principles explained by Doctor Simeons in his publication, Pound and Inches ( See resources to download a free copy), you will realise that the calorie restriction doesn’t really apply as you are burning abnormal fat
Simeons says: “But there is a third type of fat which is entirely abnormal. It is the accumulation of such fat and of such fat only, from which the overweight patient suffers. This abnormal fat is also a potential reserve of fuel but unlike the normal reserves it is not available to the body in a nutritional emergency. It is, so to speak, locked away in a fixed deposit and is not kept in a current account, as are the normal reserves”. That is what basically HCG does makes available the abnormal fat for consumption.
I do believe that quality matters over quantity. On my first round of consolidation, in the six weeks period I used 750ml of olive oil, ate so much avocado and butter, without restriction. Two things I didn’t do: eat any junk food or processed food; everything was prepared by me, except when we visited the occasional restaurant.
I am sure some of you are going to disagree with me but I will continue until the 16 February with my unrestricted consumption of quality calories while keeping within 2 lbs of my weight on 21 December 2013. Then on the 17th I start another 24 days of 500 calories while taking HCG to lose the last 13 lbs of my weight. I do believe also that exercise should be for fitness and not for weight loss but that’s another posting.
