Finally Week 4th has arrived where I can eat what I want as long as I keep my weight within 2 lbs of my last diet day.

Lost yesterday: 2 lbs
I don’t know how I lost it as I ate normally yesterday but avoids me having to do a steak day.
Today my visitors arrived and I had normal lunch of my frittata and salad.
This time I made a frittata of broccoli and swiss chard and the usual fried onion and garlic with 6 eggs and heavy cream.
We also ate the cake I made yesterday, which was very nice, even if I say so.
In the evening we went to eat out and had fried fish which I love here in Spain.
I had for the first time alcohol and it was sangria, which tasted very nice.
We had a long walk so I feel I did some exercise.
It was a truly lovely and relaxing day with my sister in law Elaine, Anthony, her husband and our lovely Shauna, our niece.

Increased yesterday: ½ lb
I thought I wouldn’t get away with having wine, well could have been the cake as it was my first consumption of sugar.
We had another amazing day with my visitors. I don’t mind the ½ lb as I truly ate loads today.
I made my fish casserole (pretend paella) with loads of fish, carrots, celery, turnips, and butternut squash. It was nice.
The “killer” was our evening meal we went to an Asian buffet where they served Chinese, Japanese, Malaysian and Vietnamese cuisine.
I think what did not do me any favors were the sweets I had. It doesn’t matter as I will really test all the foods that are making me put weight next week. I will have a rest this week as long as don’t lose sight of my weight.
We did not have any alcoholic drink with the meal but it will be interesting to know how much I weigh tomorrow.
I had a glass of Bailey’s liquor (whisky and cream)

Increased yesterday: 2 lbs!
Well I am not surprised at the increase as I truly ate loads, especially I ate a load of wheat as coverings in the Chinese restaurant plus the sweets. I’ve always known that wheat tends to make me fat for two reasons: 1) I tend to retain liquids and 2) Once I start eating bread, I don’t seem to stop. I will have to watch out wheat and wheat products.
Also, as I have said before, I do not use much salt in my food and eating at restaurants you get food that has been salted normally.
I know, from experience, if I have a lovely English breakfast with Bacon, I will be thirsty all day along.
Today I had a salad of tuna melva, lettuce, tomatoes and avocado for lunch.
In the evening, we went to another restaurant and I had fried fish and some squid covered by flour and egg, so I expect tomorrow to have put more weight on. I have to be careful as I am 1 lb from the maximum I am allowed to put on before doing a steak day.
I also had wine as sangria and I had a large glass of Baileys again!

Increased yesterday: ¾ lbs
I am not surprised at my increase in weight as I had a lot of sugar with the drink. I am convinced that fat and sugar are the culprits when consumed together. Fat in itself is fine. I need to retrain my body to accept sugar in moderation. I am sure I can do it.
As I said before I will eat this week what I want as long as I keep within the 2 lbs parameters.
Today was another relaxing lovely day with our visitors. We decided to stay in. I had smoked salmon for lunch with salad and avocado.
Then at the evening we finished eating salmon again and had sangria and a few glasses of Bailey. Today was the first day since Saturday that we did not go to a restaurant.

Lost yesterday: ¾ lb
Well I lost ¾lb yesterday, the only thing I didn’t do was eat at a restaurant. I had wine and Baileys as usual.
Today was a sad day, I was lost after our visitors left at around 10:00 am as the house seemed empty.
I made a lovely chicken dipped in egg and then on ground almonds and then fried on a bit of Olive Oil. I had a butternut squash mash. So far so good
Then I went mad with dulce de leche. Dulce de leche is an Argentine caramel. I found a recipe that used a full lb of it with cream and eggs white and made a mousse (again fat and sugar)
I only had a third of it as it was so sweet. How I’ve changed!
This is the culprit 😉
Tomorrow will tell what I’ve done with my weight!

I am now within 1/2 of the danger zone. So I decided to do what Simeons call a steak day. I did not want to go to the supermarket to buy steak and I did not have any beef of any kind.
So I decided to have 400 gm of frozen prawns, approx 14 oz but after defrosting it would be about 12 oz. I would not eat a steak larger than 12 oz so we will see what I weigh tomorrow.
So I had prawns and one tomato at around 4 pm.
I knew I would have to pay for eating so much dulce de leche and considering that since the 19th I’ve been eating completely different things that I did for the last 3 weeks, I think I have got off lightly.
Tomorrow we are having our Spanish friends which want a drinking session 🙂 I don’t drink that much but they have since late August seen me watching what I eat and drink. I know I’ve been having wine and Baileys liquor since Saturday but I still think I have not missed having alcoholic drinks.
While writing this blog post got tempted and I ate the chocolate bar that Elaine brought me from England.

Lost yesterday: 3 lbs
I can’t believe that even with the chocolate bar I managed to lose the 3 lbs I had increased recently.
This simply convinces me that there must be some food that affect each individual differently. Obviously prawns and tomatoes are safe for me and my weight doesn’t increase.
What surprise me is the chocolate as it was a milk chocolate so sugar, cocoa, cream and milk.
Today I ate loads of fruit and yogurt, I was not dieting or trying to be extra good. I only fancied some fruit and yogurt. Tonight I did not have an evening meal neither as I was about to cook something I found a packet of dates and I started eating them and I found that I was not hungry. My friends did not come so that avoided me trying to gluten free pizza I purchased.

Review of the week
This was a great week as I had visitors. I ate too many times in restaurants and I proved that wheat is not for me.
I put 1½ lbs yesterday and it proves that you need to eat properly!
I had loads of fruit and dates instead of proper meals.
Lesson learned!
