This crunchy powerfood has many health benefits which includes improved eyesight because of the beta-carotene and vitamin A. Also, the beta-carotene has anti-aging affects which creates beautiful skin.
Why carrots are good for you:
- Vitamin A – one cup provides 428% of the recommended daily allowance. (the body converts the beta carotene present in carrots to vitamin A)
- Fiber: one cup of carrots provide 4 grams of fiber. Recommended daily allowance is 20 to 35 grams
- It has an Glycemic index of 3 out of 100. It therefore will have little effect on the blood sugar.

A study found that women who ate carrots were 5 to 8 times less likely to develop breast cancer.
5. Diabetes:
Due to their low Glycemic index they assist with diabetes and sugar regulation
6. Macular disease
This disease affects the maluca in elderly people. Research has found that those that eat beta carotene have a 40% chance of contracting this disease

Carrots in skin care
The presence Beta carotene and vitamin A helps to keep your skin alive. It maintains the elasticity of the skin which happens to sag at one point or the other. It keeps the skin firmer and more radiant due to its anti-aging properties.
Some homemade skin care recipes.

- For carrot skin masks you need raw carrots and lemon juice. Grate the carrot and add some lemon juice and apply this mixture on your face and neck.
- You can do the same with cooked carrots by blending them and adding 5 tbsps of honey or yogurt. Apply it and leave it for 15-20 minutes.
- By mixing pineapple and carrot juice you can make a fine blend for glowing skin. Apply this mixture on your face and leave it for 15 minutes. Wash it and pat it dry.
- Carrot juice if applied on blemishes regularly helps them to fade away.
